Where to Ask Marshall County

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office operates the county jail and maintains sheriff-generated arrest and booking records. Its published mailed-report process requires a written request, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and $5 for a sheriff's report copy. That amount is not a guaranteed booking-photo fee, so confirm the format and charge first.

Choose the route that fits the custody stage or record type:

  • For a current jail result, recent arrest, booking photo, older file, or removal-law route, use the Marshall County records hub and then contact Sheriff Records.
  • For a filed criminal case or disposition, search Iowa Courts Online or contact the Marshall County Clerk of District Court.
  • For Marshalltown Police reports, contact MPD Records at 909 South 2nd Street, 641-754-5750, or pdrecords@marshalltown-ia.gov.
  • For a State Center police report, ask the City Clerk at 118 East Main Street, 641-483-2559, to route the request. Le Grand policing and jail records go through the sheriff.
  • For a person committed to or supervised by the state, use the Iowa Department of Corrections Offender Search. IowaVINE provides custody-status notifications.
  • For sentenced federal custody use the BOP locator; for qualifying immigration detention use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
